Roof Waterproofing Before Ghana's Rainy Season
Flat and pitched roofs take the hardest hit during the rains. Here is how contractors prepare with Dr. Fixit systems — and what homeowners should ask for.

Ghana's rainy season exposes every weak point on a roof — hairline cracks, failed laps, and untreated parapet walls. At Build and Coat, we supply authorised Dr. Fixit systems used on residential and commercial projects nationwide.
Start with surface preparation
Waterproofing fails when the substrate is dusty, oily, or actively leaking without repair. Clean the surface, chase and fill cracks, and ensure screeds have cured before any membrane or liquid-applied system goes down.
- Inspect drains and outlets — blocked water is the fastest route to failure.
- Use a primer compatible with your chosen Dr. Fixit system.
- Apply in dry weather with two coats at manufacturer-specified thickness.
- Protect the finished membrane from foot traffic until fully cured.
Products we recommend most often
For flat roofs, Dr. Fixit Aquaseal and liquid-applied systems remain our top sellers. For expansion joints and details, Fastflex gives the flexibility contractors need. Our team can advise on quantities per square metre — call or WhatsApp before you mobilise on site.
